Beautiful, colorful maki-e on Yamanaka lacquerware, a traditional craft of Ishikawa Prefecture.
Makie: a unique Japanese art and craft where patterns are applied in lacquer on the surface of a lacquered object. Before the lacquer dries, metallic powders in gold, silver, and other colors are sprinkled and set on the surface of the object. During the Momoyama period (A.D.1573-1615), objects decorated with maki-e made their way to Europe's nobility and royalty via missionaries who had visited Japan. Large volumes of maki-e were exported. It is this colorful maki-e that has been applied to the handles of these brushes by craftsmen using printing techniques. This powder brush comes with a traditional Yamanaka-nuri style maki-e on the handle. It uses the highest grade gray squirrel hair. Extremely soft brush for applying loose setting powder and pressed finishing powders. It's a large brush with soft and dense natural bristles that are domed. The dense head gives a flawless coverage that you would not achieve with a regular powder brush. Ideal for blending contour and highlight, also a great size for bronzer.

The handle design is an exquisite work of art! The squirrel hair of this brush is so soft and flawless. I use this brush to deposit finishing powder (not setting), specifically the Guerlain meteorites - in both loose and pressed forms! It is more loosely packed than the Z-1 but different enough to justify having both in my opinion! As it takes up more surface area on the face; it makes it more efficient for finishing powder. Cdjapan rewards system is great too, i wish rewards came out more often!
